Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage (Champissage) is a patented form of massage that has developed as part of Indian Ayurvedic Medicine and including classic Swedish techniques. Ayurvedic medicine focuses on the whole person – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual and so the aim of the treatment is to restore balance and harmony to the whole body and person through the manipulation of energy channels. The treatment includes the effleurage, petrissage, percussion and friction techniques of Swedish massage, whilst incorporating the use of pressure points, ie, applying pressure to points which release blocked energy.

Indian Head Massage focuses on the head, scalp and face but also incorporates techniques working on the neck, shoulders and upper arms. The treatment is performed on clients whilst they are clothed and although there is no need to use oils, their use on the scalp section of the massage has a conditioning affect on the scalp and hair and can enhance the relaxation process. Scalp conditions such as alopecia, dandruff and eczema can benefit from the scalp massage. It is often a preferred treatment for people who are looking for a quick boost.
